Meet our Director

If there's one thing Brenda Di Rezze likes to do, it is to SING! And why not?!  Your voice is all bought and paid for, you don't need to pack it up and haul it around like an instrument, it doesn't need tuning or tune-ups!  Well...it sounds better when it is in shape!

Brenda was introduced to choral singing when she was in grade 6, joining both the junior and senior church choirs when her family moved to Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Since then, she has been a member of university, church and community choirs, plus chamber groups, or has been their accompanist or director. For 12 years she was director of the Harrison-Kent Community singers, was a member of the Langley Community Chorus, and presently is a member of Voce Destino and JoyVox (Abbotsford).
Brenda is delighted to be involved once again with enthusiastic and motivated multi-generational singers from the communities of Agassiz, Harrison Hot Springs, Harrison Mills, and Rosedale. The new group started on February 8th, 2023, had their first concert
on June 2nd, and are looking forward to continuing to expand, as the newly renamed CASCADE CHORUS.

After graduating with a B.Ed. from the University of Saskatchewan, Brenda completed the Toronto Conservatory of Music registered piano and theory teacher requirements (ARCT) and further studies at UBC and U of Calgary gave her full accreditation in Orff and Kodaly pedagogy, a Diploma of Fine arts, as well as a Masters certification in Orff.

Brenda taught in elementary classrooms but spent the majority of her 35+ year teaching career as a music specialist. She enjoyed teaching choral and instrumental (recorder, ukulele, guitar, barred instruments) to students at Kent Elementary in Agassiz. She was a church musician for 20+ years, and was the conductor of the Chilliwack Songs of Praise Orchestra for 10 years.  Now that she has retired, Brenda is finding time to play alto saxophone with the Cascadia Wind Ensemble in Abbotsford and is hoping to dust off other instruments that have been calling her to play with them.
