Frequently Asked Questions

When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, but close to concert dates, may be a bit longer. Winter season is from September to December and Spring season is from February to May.

Are there concerts / Does the choir perform?

Yes, we will have a concert for the Christmas season - set for Friday Dec. 1, as well as a spring concert - set for Saturday June 1.  We hope to become involved in community events for additional opportunities to perform (ex.  Community Carol Festival, Care Homes,  BCCF Chorfest, etc.)

What is the age range of the choir?

The Choir currently ranges in ages from 16 - 90 with several people from each generation!

Is there a fee to join?

In order to be able to afford our rehearsal space, concert fees, music, liability insurance, directors fees, and more - we do have to collect a fee from each participant. The current fee to join is $65 (per season) or $55 per adult if 2+ adults in a household join. We also have a student fee of $32.50.

If the fee is a concern, please reach out and we have an option to pay in installments.

Is this a church choir?

No, although we rehearse in a church, we are not church-based on affiliated with a particular church.  Although some of our songs are sacred in nature (example - for the Christmas season), we sing a variety of songs.

What type of songs does the choir sing?

Depending on the theme, the choir sings a variety of songs, both secular and sacred, mellow and upbeat, arranged and composed, folksongs and popular.  Some songs may be in unison, others in 2, 3 or 4 parts, a cappella (no accompaniment), altos / sopranos only, or tenors and basses only.

I am interested but am anxious / unsure about joining...

We will always try our best to welcome anybody that comes into rehearsal! If you are wanting to come and sit in on a rehearsal before deciding to join, we would love it!

We welcome people from all walks of life and are an inclusive group.

I don't have a lot of music / singing experience...

Besides very thoroughly going over parts at rehearsals, when a piece is introduced, and continuing as the parts are put together,  singers are also  provided with links to rehearsal tracks (your part alone, your part with others, your part with accompaniment), as well as links to full performance recordings or videos to help  learn and practice the pieces.

What are the levels of ability in this choir?

Although we have singers with varied levels of choral experience, as a new choir, we aim to grow in our abilities and skills.  The songs selected for each program have a range of difficulty, from easy to learn and put together, to a few that will take a while to master, but will be very rewarding once achieved!

NOTE:  for those wanting a bit more of a challenge, we offer opportunities for learning and performing small group selections: solos, duos, ensembles, etc.
