Rehearsal #11 - April 1, 2026

Good morning singers,
Thanks to the altos and baritones for providing the snacks for our social time. It's good to see you getting to know each other better.
I was pleased to hear how our full-choir songs are coming together, but now we will focus on details to make the pieces sound the best they can. The recordings that Elizabeth did revealed that there were two main things that need attention:
When we are singing unison in sections we are not agreeing on the rhythm - this was evident on the verses of WE RISE AGAIN and the verses of THIS IS MY HOME. So....listen to my recordings with the voice parts taped over the accompaniment, with the metronome going in the background to secure the correct rhythm. (**DID you notice a "Life in Agassiz" post that the AESS music program hosted composer Robert/Bob Buckley - This is My Home composer?!**)
Blending our voices to sound as one within our sections - if all you are hearing is your voice, you are probably singing too loudly. We will spend time on this during our extra sectionals: Tenors - Friday April 11 at 6:30 pm; Baritones - at 8:00; Sopranos - Saturday April 12 at 9:00 am. Altos - date/time TBD...
I mentioned memorizing: Can we focus on THE GIFT, and perhaps the choruses of WE RISE AGAIN and THIS IS MY HOME? I think there are parts of each song that we know well enough so we can look up from our binders.
Consider participating in the BCCF CHORFESTS that are being held at the end of May - details were in the newsletter that secretary Doreen forwarded to everyone. As well, promote the purchase of raffle tickets to your contacts.
I think that's it for now. See you next week.
Chord-ially,
Brenda
