Good evening singers,

It is exciting to hear how our songs are coming together! Well done everyone! Besides making progress through our sectional rehearsals, it is helping when you spend time during the week reviewing your songs with the practice tracks.

Now that we are familiar with the full choir songs (except for The Black Fly which we will start next week) it is time to decide who is singing different parts of the songs. Next week we will sing these parts in sections, so everyone can try them out, but keep in mind which parts you may want to audition for:

1. Northwest Passage: the main melody line for the chorus, written now as soprano one. I may ask for one person from each section to become a Quartet for this. The verses are another opportunity.

2. We Rise Again: the verses will be divided into two parts, sung by the different sections, but “as if a child could tell us why” could be sung by a select person or group…

3. Bud the Spud: any of our men willing to try it??!

4. The Frozen Logger: female solo

5. The Alberta Homestead/er: could be a male or female doing this one…

Ladies, here are the practice tracks for The Logdriver’s Waltz:

See you next week

Brenda
