Rehearsal #8 - March 11, 2026

Good evening singers.
As I mentioned at last night's rehearsal, there are a few "blanks" to fill in our program:
First, next week I will be listening to each section to decide on 1 or 2 people from each to be the Cantors for NW passage (that is, the soprano/melody line for the chorus). Everyone else will choose which harmony part they would like to sing for the chorus - something like we did for Skidegate Love Song. Then, if there are singers who are keen on auditioning for singing the verses I will listen to them during the break. Otherwise, we may assign each verse to a different section, like how we divided up the verses for We Rise Again.
Second, I will be listening to each section for able singers to do the octave jump confidently on We Rise Again (As if Child could tell us why). Everyone else will continue on the "oo" on that part. Please focus on the newer harmony from rehearsal G to the end.
Third, both BUD THE SPUD and The ALBERTA HOMESTEAD(ER) could be sung by male or female voices - duos, trios... anyone interested in trying out for these songs?!? We have someone interested in THE FROZEN LOGGER, but need a male singer to sing verse 1 of that song.
Next week I will spend the last half of the rehearsal with the ladies going over their songs, while the fellas review their men-only songs as well as parts of songs they'd like more time on. Thanks again to Brian, Barb, Leila and Jill for helping our choir with sectionals!!🎶
